Megan van der Toorn

Associate Vice President for Student Life, Leadership and Community

Megan van der Toorn serves as the Associate Vice President for Student Life, Leadership and Community supporting teams who oversee a vast array of student support services and student engagement opportunities, including: Campus Activities, Student Culture & Community, Student Publications, and Trojan Event Services. Megan joined the Trojan Family in 2020 and spent her first five years at USC serving as a Director in Student Culture & Community, overseeing the LGBTQ+ Student Center and Students with Dependents Program.

Throughout her career, Megan has worked closely with campus partners to improve the student experience, increase student access to support services and resources, and create an environment where every student feels like they belong. Megan has had the privilege of mentoring countless students through their identity development and student leadership journeys to help them define and achieve their own markers of student success.

Prior to coming to USC, Megan held various positions at UCLA’s LGBTQ Campus Resource Center. She earned a B.A. in English from Furman University and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University.
